Quantum Computing Testbed Initiative (QCTI): Phase 1 Report published

The National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC)’s QCTI programme has reached a significant milestone, with Phase 1 successfully concluding at the end of 2025. We’re pleased to publish the QCTI Phase 1 Report, highlighting the achievements and near-term outcomes.

Co-delivered by the NQCC and Innovate UK, Phase 1 awarded £30 million across seven quantum technology providers to develop and deploy programmable, operational quantum computing testbeds.

With systems now deployed at Harwell Campus, the NQCC is helping turn cutting-edge technology into practical capability by acting as a first customer and providing an environment for testing, validation, and application development.

From building quantum computers to proving their potential: the next phase of the QCTI is underway!

Phase 2, led by the NQCC in partnership with the University of Edinburgh’s Quantum Software Lab, is advancing performance evaluation and benchmarking to help de-risk future technology development and investment.

Thank you to all our partners and teams for making this shared endeavour possible.
