£1 billion investment in doctoral training announced

The UK’s biggest-ever investment in engineering and physical sciences postgraduate skills, totalling more than £1 billion, has been announced, to establish 65 Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs).

The NQCC welcomes the announcement of 5 CDTs in quantum technologies as part of this investment.

Congratulating the winning CDTs, Dr Michael Cuthbert, Director, NQCC commented, “The development of highly skilled PhD graduates in quantum technologies is critical to enable the delivery of the National Quantum Strategy’s objective to grow UK knowledge and skills and ensure the UK is home to world-leading quantum science and engineering. Quantum CDTs are a key mechanism to develop quantum PhD graduates and grow the UK quantum workforce.”

As a trusted authority in quantum computing, the NQCC aims to work closely with the quantum CDTs and support them through a range of activities intended to enrich the student experience, from providing dedicated training packages to community events and access to quantum computing resources.
