The IEEE International Conference on Quantum Computing and Engineering (QCE24) will be held from September 15-20, 2024, at the Palais des Congrès in Montréal, Québec, Canada. Dr. Natasha Oughton, Quantum Computing Policy and Ethics Lead at the NQCC and one of the event’s organizers, will be delivering a talk titled “Steps towards Operationalising Responsible and Ethical Quantum Computing at the UK’s NQCC.”
As part of IEEE Quantum Week, QCE24 is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical quantum computing advancements and their practical industrial applications. It stands out for its interdisciplinary approach, bringing together a diverse array of participants, including quantum researchers, scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and industry practitioners, to foster discussions on the current challenges and emerging opportunities within the quantum computing landscape.
On September 18, Dr. Natasha Oughton will also join other leading experts in a discussion on “Responsible Quantum Readiness,” which will focus on the ethical and responsible development of quantum technologies. This session will explore ways to navigate the societal impacts of quantum computing, drawing on lessons learned from other emerging technologies, such as AI.
