2026 STFC Cross Cluster Proof of Concept: SparQ Quantum Computing Call

The National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC), in collaboration with the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC)’s Campus and Cluster team, is pleased to announce the launch of the 2026 call for proof of concept projects in quantum computing.

This funding opportunity is for quantum innovators looking to accelerate quantum innovation and build pathways toward scalable, industry-focused applications.

Delivered by STFC in conjunction with the NQCC’s SparQ programme, this quantum computing call supports collaborative, business-led projects focused on practical quantum use cases across the public, private, and charitable sectors.

This year we are extending the scope of the call to provide funding for 2 types of projects:

• Up to £60 K for 3-month Proof of Concept projects
• Up to £80 K for 6-month Proof of Concept+ projects

Projects can range from benchmarking quantum applications and testing algorithms on real hardware, to scaling previous proof-of-concept work towards commercially impactful solutions.

Applications from energy, healthcare, and transport sectors are particularly encouraged, although applications from all sectors are welcome.

Applications open: 10 June 2026
Deadline: 19 August 2026 (5:30 pm)
